A +3 Vacation of Fun

Posted in Life, the Universe, and Everything at 7:39 pm by kryscen

I haven’t been around much. Let me catch some of you up on a couple things. First: I finished summer semester in a blaze of glory and ended up with far better grades than I thought I would. Second: I have moved to Orem and spent a solid week doing almost nothing other than watching Futurama, playing Baldur’s Gate, and eventually Badlur’s Gate 2 (seeing as how I beat the first). Third: I just got back from a vacation today.

I was invited to my brother in law’s family vacation last week at Flaming Gorge. By some strange coincidence my family vacation took place at the before mentioned Gorge of Flame the next week, so I have been there for almost the past two weeks (minus a return trip and layover for a night before going back).

It was pretty much awesome. Sam’s family has a boat so naturally we went boating, but Sam’s family also has a different perspective about vacationing. Namely, it’s okay to sit around and do nothing but read. Especially if you’re just sitting around on a boat in the shade. Nice. Having just finished up what I hope will be my worst few weeks of school I was so very much in the mood to do nothing. Productivity be damned!

At least, what most everyone else would consider to be productive. I have mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to start playing Dungeons and Dragons. The first round happened a few weeks ago and was a fair success, but we stopped because I wasn’t very ready to continue the adventure with my meager Dungeon Master skills. I resolved that on my extended vacation in the sun that I would gain the necessary experience to remedy that. I am happy to report that I have.

I spent a great deal of time reading through my manuals and the published adventure we are using and am totally set to take the reigns of a rip roaring good time. Prepare ye for epic adventuring the likes of which no man has before seen! And dice rolling that will shake the very foundations of the Earth!

Now if you’ll excuse me I have to make a saving throw against this weariness I am feeling.
